Missing baby found dead in a ditch: Mother charged with murder

The body of a missing seven week-old baby was discovered in a ditch five weeks since she went missing. The baby’s mother has since been charges with first-degree murder.

The precious little girl, Aniston Walker was found in Millington which about 30 minutes north of Memphis. In a police department news release, Anniston was first reported missing on Jan. 9.

According to the baby’s mother, Andrea Walker she left her baby in the care of her three year-old child while she took her five year-old child to school. When she got home, the baby had allegedly disappeared.

Walker then contacted the baby’s father, who doesn’t live with her and he was the one who reported the baby missing. Walker once again walked out of the house leaving the three year-old alone while she went to different places in the city.

When Aniston went missing, police conducted a thorough search of the area for three days with no signs of the little girl. A motorcyclist stopped on the side of the road and contacted the police when he noticed the little baby in the ditch.

Police Director Tony Armstrong said in a statement, “It is heartbreaking to confirm that an innocent child’s life has been taken but now family members of Aniston Walker can have closure and begin the healing process of losing a loved one.”

Andrea Walker pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse or neglect before Aniston’s body was found. She turned herself in on Monday, Feb. 17 after being free on a $250,000 bond.

Andrea Walker is now charged with two counts: first-degree murder in the perpetration of a felony, to wit, aggravated child neglect or endangerment; and first-degree murder in the perpetration of a felony, to wit, aggravated child abuse.
