Missing 16 year-old girl from Franklin N.J. found after hiding

A 16 year-old girl had been missing since March 24, 2013 from Franklin N.J in Sussex County. More than a week later she has been found safe and sound only about 35 miles away from her home. According to NJ.com, on April 2, 2013 the girl has been found at her boyfriend's house in Bloomfield N.J.

After a nine-day search that involved multiple police departments, footwork from dozens of volunteers and support from hundreds of online supporters, Elizabeth (Liz) Chesner has been found alive and well.

Franklin Detective Nevin Mattessich and Chief Eugene McInerney found Chesner, a Wallkill Valley Regional High School sophomore, around 1:30 a.m. The police had made several attempts to visit the girl's boyfriend's house, where he and his family lived.

While there has been little information provided by official police personnel, the girl's mother took to Facebook to share the news of her daughter's whereabouts. Chesner's mother Sharon Decker, stated,

"At this time I don't have much information to offer the group here but I have confirmed the information with the police department and I am on my way to see my daughter now,"

Many residents form local areas, combed neighborhoods, wooded areas and mines for the missing girl. Police had not suspected foul play but the search continued though Easter weekend. The search was scheduled to continue Tuesday morning April 2, 2013 after the previous evening's rainstorm hindered efforts.

With many important details missing from reports, social media has been exploding with rumors and accusations as to why the girl would hide for over one week. Regardless of why the teenager ran away, there are quite a few players in the this puzzle that will benefit from professional counseling.

Thankfully this story ended with a happy one and Elizabeth Chesner is alive.
