Missed Five Boro Bike Tour lottery? You can still ride.

 Did you miss today’s 5 p.m. deadline  today to register for the lottery that gives you a place in the May 6 TD Five Boro Bike Tour, the largest cycling event in the U.S.? Not to worry. You can still sign up as a VIP or as part of a fundraising charity group. 

To guarantee yourself a VIP entry go to the special VIP signup page online. A The VIP registration package is $300 per rider.  VIP riders get extra benefits, including breakfast, priority starting time, exclusive Bike New York merchandise and lunch at the finish festival.  The VIP option is available on a first-come-first-served basis.  
 
If you wish to ride for charity, there is a separate registration called “Ride for a Reason.” This year, Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC) is among the 40 participating charity partners, the nonprofit announced yesterday.
 
The TD Five Boro Bike Tour sends 32,000 cyclists on the streets of New York City for 40 miles Sunday May 6 that are car-free during the event. Held annually, this year's edition is presented by Eastern Mountain Sports. It is produced by Bike New York in association with the City of New York and the New York City Department of Transportation.

For 2012, the organizers are instituting staggered start times to reduce wait times at the beginning of the day and alleviate potential bottlenecks, such as those which plagued last year’s ride.
