2000 Priyanka Chopra India 

1999 Yukta Mookhey India 

1997 Diana Hayden India

1994 Aishwarya Rai India 

However, it has been an eight year drought since.

Here are some of the front runners for the Miss World 2009 pageant going on in Johannesburg, South Africa. The final will be held on Dec. 12th. There are 120 contestants this year.
