Miss Uzbekistan poses quite a mystery. You see, the 18-year-old beauty queen has been competing in the Miss World 2013 competition but given her upbringing as a Muslim woman -- and the fact that no one from her home country has ever heard of her -- some are wondering who she is and how she got that nifty sash she has been wearing. On Sept. 13, Mail Online reported that Rakhima Ganieva fits the beauty queen bill but leaves many question marks along the way.
"Uzbekistan has no idea who she is. The predominantly Muslim country doesn’t even hold a Miss Uzbekistan contest. Officials at the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry and the National Committee on Women said yesterday that anyone laying claim to the nation’s beauty crown was an imposter," Mail Online reported.
The Miss Uzbekistan mystery is currently being looked into but the Miss World organization has refused to comment. At this point, Ganieva is hanging out with all of the other women in the competition and posting pictures of her adventures in the competition on her official Facebook page. With almost 500 "likes" on the page, some wonder if the Ganieva really is an imposter. Even still, there are quite a few people who have been wishing Ganieva luck.
"Rakhima Ganieva never passed through any special selection process in Uzbekistan. If there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen. I’m sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies," said a representative of the Tashkent-based Pro Models modelling agency.
The Miss Uzbekistan mystery could be solved fairly easily and one has to assume that the organizers of Miss World are investigating.
