Less than a year ago in Las Vegas, Miss Rhode Island Oliva Culpo was crowned Miss USA at The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Last night she won the ultimate beauty title of Miss Universe 2012, again in Las Vegas. Culpo competed against women from 90 countries around the world in the pageant that aired live on NBC. In the end, she won out over the first runner-up, Miss Philippines, Janine Tugonon and Miss Venezuela, Irene Sofiá Esser Quintero, the second runner-up.
Miss Universe Olivia Culpo will enjoy a prize package that includes a year’s supply of hair care products and tools from Farouk Systems; a custom diamond tiara and jewelry designed by Diamond Nexus; a shoe wardrobe from Chinese Laundry; evening wear wardrobe by Sherri Hill; swimwear wardrobe by Kooey Australia; a year’s supply of makeup products from MAC; a one-year scholarship from the New York Film Academy; luxury accommodations in a New York City apartment for the duration of her reign and many other great prizes.
The last time a Miss USA contestant won Miss Universe was 1997.
