Logan West, Miss Teen USA 2012, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the 2013 Mother 2 Daughter Financial Summit on Saturday, March 9, at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD. The summit is being produced by the Financial Literacy Organization for Women and Girls and is open to girls ages 10-17. According to the conference website, participants will take part in money, finance and global markets workshops tailored just for girls and their moms.
The website gives reasons for why an event such as this is pertinent for today. “The White House Council on Women and Girls reports women are particularly vulnerable to financial insecurity. There is a key relationship between financial freedom and quality of life. Having a commanding knowledge of basic money concepts is crucial in an increasingly complex global market system.”
The theme for this year’s summit is, "Empowering Girls to be Money-Wise." Logan will take the stage around 9:30 to talk to girls about being money smart. The event runs from 8:30 to 1:00 pm. For more information or to register for the summit log onto: http://sitting-pretty.org.
