Miss Shirley’s Café Spring menu has arrived just in time for Easter (Photos)

Spring itself hasn’t arrived weather wise here in Baltimore. The below normal temperatures and Passover snow has us yearning for the glories of spring. But it seems that spring has arrived on the plates at all three Miss Shirley’s Café locations.

If you are trying to decided what to do for Easter then you might want to consider Miss Shirley’s which is open their normal hours 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. I was told that some of the chefs like to feature peeps with the pancake or French toast offerings. This is the last weekend of their March Pancakes and Stuffed French Toasts. Try the Carrot Cake Cheesecake stuffed French Toast at the Roland Park location.

I was invited along with restaurant regulars to their spring menu tasting event and got to try all the new dishes. New spring items include a Chicken Fried Pork Chop, the Born on the Bay-O Eggs Benedict and Old Bay Waffles. Shirley’s Power Greens Salad, the Savannah Salad and a Big Easy Muffuletta Chef Salad freshen up the selection of greens. New sandwiches include the North Meets South Melt, Mardi Gras Muffuletta, Upstream Salmon Salad Club, Crabby Deviled Egg Salad and Low Country Chop. A Turkey and Cheddar Sandwich in a signature Miss Shirley's shape will replace the Mac N' Cheese in the Kids' Crazy Box.

I kicked off my evening with a cocktail, the Our Favorite Palmer – Absolut citron, Triple Sec, ½ unsweetened ice tea, ½ strawberry lemonade with a sugared rim. New to the cocktail list are two additions: Bluebarry Mojioto Crush and Orangesicle Cream Crush.

Loved, loved, loved the benne seed cheddar and chive biscuits with local peach jalapeno jam – that was worth the visit. Never doubt the quality of their ingredients with suppliers like Roseda Beef, Rise Up Coffee Roasters’ 100% Organic, Fair Trade Coffee, Eastern Shore Tea, Holly Hill Jam and more.

Miss Shirley’s Café does not accept reservations so the best bet is to arrive early or arrive late. The Roland Park location had expanded since my last visit – much more seating is available.
