After placing third in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant to winning country Miss Angola, contestant Shamcey Supsup representing the Philippines was given a celebrity welcome at the Americana in Glendale with friends, family and select media surrounding the effervescent Miss Philippines last night.
Arriving from Miami that morning, the jet-lagged Supsup was pampered by O Skin Care in Eagle Rock before heading out for her private meet and greet. While waiting for the lovely lass, the guests and press were treated to a musical number by the cast of the upcoming LA revival play opening the Ford series, "The Romance of Magno Rubio / Ang Romansa Ni Magno Rubio."
As Miss Philippines arrived, she was also serenaded by the "Magno Rubio" cast with Philippine classic "Ikaw." Opening up the press conference floor, Shamcey was quite surprised to see that there was a large amount of individuals greeting her tonight. She mentioned that although she was tired, seeing everyone here had re-energized her. Supsup was definitely red carpet ready wearing a black laced dress adorned with purple flower prints.
There were many questions poised at Miss Philippines but the one that garnered a resounding applause with her answer pertained to the question and answer portion in which some thought she was at an unfair disadvantage as she did not use an interpreter may have cost her the crown. Supsup didn't believe in that. She was comfortable that whether she spoke in English or Tagalog, she was able to convey her idea. She added, "We should respect the results. I believe this, even in politics - there's always a winner and a loser. In the end, we're going to have to support the one who won because that's the mark of a true winner, being able to accept losing and supporting whoever won. I think we should be happy for Miss Angola."
Closing out the night, Ryan Gallagher serenaded Miss Philippines with his rendition of "Time To Say Goodbye" as she prepares to head back to her native country today.
Shamcey Supsup will be greeted with a red carpet ceremony when she arrives in the Philippines and will meet with President Aquino.
