Miss North Dakota wins preliminary talent competition (Photos)

Miss North Dakota 2012 Rosie Sauvageau was named winner of Thursday's Miss America preliminary talent competition, pageant officials announced.

She won a $2,000 scholarship for her vocal/piano solo performance of "To Make You Feel My Love."

Sauvageau, 24, joins two others in the preliminary talent winners’ circle. Miss Maryland 2012 Joanna Guy won on Wednesday, and Miss Oklahoma 2012 Alicia Clifton won on Tuesday.

Sauvageau lives in Fargo. She is a graduate of Shanley High School who attended Concordia College.

Her goals are to earn a master's degree in musical theatre writing and to become a successful musician.

Her academic honors include the Dekko Bernhardson Scholarship, Hildegard Abaz Memorial Scholarship and Mrs. Alice Polikowsky Home Economics Scholarship.

She was the reigning Miss Fort Abercrombie win judges chose her to be Miss North Dakota.

Her pageant platform is "Celebrate Diversity: One Nation, All People."

Thursday’s competition marked the last evening of preliminary competition. A new Miss America will be crowned on Saturday. The event will be broadcast live on the ABC television network.
