The Miss Nevada USA Pageant gets under way Saturday in Las Vegas.
Winner of the pageant will represent Nevada at the Miss USA Pageant. If she wins the national title, she will represent the United States at the Miss Universe Pageant.
No Arizona titleholder has gone on to become Miss USA.
The reigning queen is Miss Nevada USA 2012 Jade Kelsall, who was named third runner-up at the Miss USA Pageant.
Kelsall grew up in New Jersey. She became a New York City model in her late teens before moving to Nevada.
"While visiting a friend in Las Vegas she fell in love with the bright lights of the silver state and made the move to Nevada and never looked back," according to her pageant profile. "She has since found her love of fashion and is now the brand ambassador for Top Shop clothing, developing brand awareness with locals and Las Vegas night life."
"Jade has overcome many odds and uses her title of Miss Nevada USA 2012 to share her story. Jade has always believed, if you can conceive it, you can achieve it, no matter what is working against you."
The Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants are co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal.
