Miss Lori recommends The Rising Stars Theatre production of Oliver

The Rising Stars Theatre Company is dedicated to providing quality theatre, at reasonable prices, to the Chicagoland community. It was founded by the late Ann Dunn in 1979 as an Explorer post, a co-educational division of the Boy Scouts of America. It encompassed the ages of 14-21, and it's special interest was theatre. In 1987 the company produced it's first full-length musical, My Fair Lady. The cast was a mixture of high school students and young adults. In the 1990's the group officially became The Rising Stars Theatre Company, with an all adult Board of Directors and production staff.

The Rising Stars Theatre is about to open their 39th full length production, Oliver. It opens Saturday April 17th and runs for six performances through May 2nd. Shows are performed at The Stahl Family Theatre on the Saint Patrick High School Campus, 5900 W. Belmont. Performance times are Saturday's at 730pm and Sunday's at 2pm. Tickets run $15 for Adults and $13 for students and Seniors.

If you are looking for an introduction to the world of theatre for your family, or if you are looking for your next theatrical experience, Oliver is right for you. The multiple award winning musical by Lionel Bart is an adaption of the famous Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist. Oliver was first mounted in 1960. It moved to Broadway in 1963 and won several Tony awards. The story follows the poor but courageous orphan Oliver Twist, half starved, but possessing the audacity to ask, "Please sir may I have some more?" The twists and turns of the plot bring Oliver through harrowing adventures, danger and a final resolution when he discovers his true identity.

So come out and celebrate COMMUNITY. Community Theatre that is, and....

Consider Yourself at HOME.

SMILE On!
