Contestants in the Miss Kentucky USA Pageant arrived in Bowling Green for Saturday’s preliminary pageant competition.
On Saturday, contestants will compete in the swimsuit and evening gown categories and a new Miss Kentucky USA will be crowned on Sunday.
The event is being held at Van Meter Auditorium in Bowling Green.
Winner of the pageant will represent Kentucky at the Miss USA Pageant. If she wins there, she will represent the United States in the Miss Universe Pageant.
The Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants are co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal.
Reigning state queen is Miss Kentucky USA 2012 Amanda Mertz.
She is a former MAXIM Magazine cover girl and is a registered nurse in Lexington.
"Amanda plans to continue her education at the University of Louisville and obtain her Master of Science in Nursing degree," according to her pageant profile.
"She loves kickboxing, practicing yoga, jet skiing, cooking, watching basketball and football, writing, and playing with her two dogs, Jade and Gizmo."
