She joins Tuesday’s night’s preliminary winner in the swimsuit competition, Miss South Carolina 2012 Ali Rogers.
Like Rogers, preliminary victory in the fitness category brings her a $1,000 Amway college scholarship.
Ervin, 23, is a resident of Rushville. She was graduated from Rushville-Industry High School before attending Western Illinois University.
Her goal is to earn a master’s degree in exercise physiology and “"to own and operate my own dance and fitness studio and, eventually, marketing my 'Cross-Lates' Fitness Method on DVD."
Her academic honors include the WIU Dean's List, National Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
Her personal pageant platform is "The Heptathlon of Healthy Habits" and her talent is lyrical dance.
Before being crowned Miss Illinois, she was the reigning Miss Quincy.
"I will be an advocate and ambassador for their Distracted Driving Campaigns," she wrote on her blog. "I am currently working on putting together a Distracted Driving slideshow presentation and beginning to create my speaking outline for my school appearance across Illinois. I will also be influencing youth and adults alike to commit to a 'No Texting and Driving Pledge' that will ensure people think twice before picking up their phones while on the road. I will also have the opportunity to attend events held by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and I am extremely excited to work within this organization and learn from their leaders."
