Pageant contestant and model search applications are now being accepted by Toay Foster-Ortiz, director of the Miss Los Angeles County USA and Miss Calabasas USA pageants, as preliminaries to the Miss California USA Pageant.
According to the model call casting notice for pageant contestants, the contest will be held October 16, 2013 at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and focus on ‘modeling and being an ambassador for charity.’
The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and the opportunity to compete at the Miss California USA 2014 pageant in Long Beach, this coming January 2014, and a chance to represent the state of California at the Miss USA 2014 pageant next year.
Contestants must be at least 18 years of age and under 27 years of age by February 1, in the year they hope to compete in the Miss California USA competition.
Judging criteria for the contest will include swimwear, evening gown, and interview competitions. There will also be an additional Spokesmodel award given in the amount of $300. Contestants are required to pay a $50 registration fee upon acceptance.
