Miss California Pageant joins Twitter

The Miss California Pageant on Feb. 19 opened a Twitter account to help keep pageant fans informed about upcoming events.

Already on the service are Miss California 2012 Leah Cecil and Miss California’s Outstanding Teen 2012 Grace Lee Grant.

In its debut tweets, California pageant officials provided a link to photos of contestants who have qualified for the state pageant, so far, and saluted Cecil for her work as an ambassador for American Pistachios.

The Miss California and Miss California’s Outstanding Teen pageants are scheduled for June 25-29 at William Saroyan Theatre in Fresno.

Full schedules will be released at a later date, and ticket information will be available later via Ticketmaster.

The winner of the Miss California Pageant will represent her state at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.

The winner of the Miss California’s Outstanding Teen Pageant will represent her state at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orland, Fla.

The teen competition is the younger-sister pageant to Miss America, and is for girls ages 13-17.

Miss California also sponsors a princess program for girls ages five-12 years. Participants team with a Miss California contestant to learn the ropes of pageantry, and appear on stage during a production number.
