The Miss America Organization will host live updates on Twitter, pageant officials announced Saturday.
There will be a Twitter Pre-Party on Saturday from 6-7:30 p.m. ET. Follow @ArtistryBeauty, @AmwayUS and @MissAmericaOrg and use hashtag #AmwayMAO.
Live updates on Twitter will begin with the 9 p.m. ET ABC telecast of the 2013 Miss America Pageant at hashtag #MissAmerica.
The pageant will not be broadcast on the West Coast until 9 p.m. PST. Since the winner will be announced on Twitter at around 8 p.m. PST, people on the West Coast who enjoy elements of surprise may want to stay away from Twitter on Saturday night.
On Friday, Miss America 2012 Laura Kaeppeler wrote her final tweet as the current titleholder and will be available from now on at @laurakaeppeler.
The new Miss America will use the Tweeter ID @missamerica.
There are 53 contestants for the Miss America 2013 title. They represent the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
