The Miss America contestants are fully prepared to walk the stage on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, as they try and take the crown. They were sitting back and riding on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, though, as they paraded the Atlantic City Boardwalk for the returning "Show Us Your Shoes!" parade in front of a huge crowd.
With the pageant returning to Atlantic City after a stint in Las Vegas, the traditional parade was brought back and allowed the Miss America contestants to parade their specially made shoes. All 53 competitors enjoyed some time out and showed off their feet.
The contestants all had on shoes that represented who they are or their state in some way. Miss Kentucky had on tall boots. Miss California had on Minnie Mouse-themed heels. Miss Alabama had shoes representing the Crimson Tide.
One of the crowd pleasers happened to be the basketball-themed shoes of Miss Indiana.
For six years, the Miss America pageant was in Las Vegas, the parade was put on hold. Now, with its return to Atlanta City, traditions are being brought back into the fold.
The nationally televised broadcast of the "Miss America Pageant" will begin on ABC on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at 9:00 p.m. EST / 8:00 p.m. Central.
