Here comes Miss America 2014: Miss New York Nina Davuluri. It's been a long day for this winner from the Empire State as all the nation's eager contestants from every state showed up in Atlantic City to try to win the crown on Sept. 15.
The outstanding female entries, all of whom are 24 years old or younger, strategically represent each of their own, home-grown states. Meanwhile, the place where the ultimate decision was made is Boardwalk Hall, a legendary venue situated on the Jersey shore and where this competition first debuted back in 1921.
Formerly dubbed Historic Atlantic City Convention Hall, Boardwalk Hall is a newer, more contemporary outpost than ever before after having been renovated a few years before Sunday's iconic event took place.
Still, the old lures are still there, including the world's largest instrument in the form of a pipe order endowed with 33,000 pipes and more than 7 key stops.
Meanwhile, some 14,000 guests sat in their seats, anxiously waiting to find out which Miss America 2014 contestant would take the cveeted prize while walking down the runway, shedding some well earned tears as she does so.
So, while Miss America 2013 Nina Davuluri was crowned as the annual pageant showed up four months earlier than usual, all eyes were fixed on her and on Boardwalk Hall, a bona fide National American Landmark picked as the crowning place in Atlantic City, the pride of New Jersey this evening.
