A Miss America 2013 contestant is modeling on crutches in the bikini competition Saturday night, EOnline reports Jan. 12. Kiaraliz Medina, who represents Puerto Rico, wound up with a foot-and-ankle injury while performing a flamenco dance during the talent challenge. She later fainted when she tried getting through the question-and-answer segment of the beauty pageant.
Kiaraliz was crowned Miss Puerto Rico in July 2012. See photos of her here.
When the Miss America contestant showed up on stage Friday for the bikini competition, she told the audience why she had the crutches.
"I'm here to make the crutches look good," Kiaraliz said.
Miss Puerto Rico clearly has a great attitude and wasn't willing to let her injury get in the way of vying for Saturday night's crown. Her platform for the pageant is "The Power Within Us."
No woman from Puerto Rico has won the Miss America crown yet. Will Kiaraliz Medina be the first to win it?
