On Tuesday, January 8, 2013 the first phase of competition for this year's Miss America pageant began. The competition was held at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. This is the first of three nights of preliminary competition.
Alicia Clifton, Miss Oklahoma America 2013 was named the preliminary talent winner. Alicia delivered a stellar Tap performance to, "Money Can't Buy Me Love." As the winner of the talent competition, Alicia will receive a $2000 Amway scholarship.
Another very happy titleholder is Ali Rogers, Miss South Carolina America 2013 who won the preliminary Lifestyle and Fitness category. Ali took the fitness phase of competition sporting a white Catalina swimsuit with gold embellishments. As the winner she will receive a $1,000 Amway scholarship.
