ESPN announcer Brent Musburger had no idea that his comments about Katherine Webb during the Alabama and Notre Dame game would catapult the beauty queen to stardom.
Quaterback AJ McCarro’s girlfriend and Miss Alabama USA is on her way into one of the most popular magazines, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
"It's official...shooting with Sports Illustrated! #Blessed," Webb tweeted on Jan. 10.
According to a Jan 10 E! News report, Webb will appear in the iconic swimsuit issue of the popular magazine, slated to hit stands on Feb. 11. Webb confirmed this in an interview with Sports Illustrated magazine, during which she gushed about how incredibly grateful she is for this divine turn of events. "It's just so surprising to me. I don't know what God has planned, but obviously he's working on something," Webb told the magazine in a recent interview.
"When Sports Illustrated called it just became even more real that this is happening. Every single model wants to be in Sports Illustrated, and I feel extremely blessed to have that opportunity."
With all these opportunities falling into place, should she take offense to Musburger's comments or thank him? The beauty queen told Matt Lauer during an appearance on the Today Show that "the fact that he [Musburger] said we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don't see why any woman wouldn't be flattered by that…I don't take any offense to it at all. "I don't think [ESPN's apology] was needed, honestly. Of course, I appreciate it, but at the same time I don't think that I needed an apology."
The new Sports Illustrated model will also be judging the Miss USA Pageant this weekend. Thanks to Donald Trump and Musburger, of course.
Cue the spike of Sports Illustrated magazine hopefuls lining football stands everywhere and hoping for their own very 'Musburger' aka 'Mr. Catapult Me to Stardom.'
