There is an exciting new Art Book coming out from Monte Michael Moore, an award-winning artist for 20 years in the comics/gaming/pin-up and fantasy industries. So even if you (like us) already have a full shelf of really cool art books (and then again even if you don’t) you are really going to like this book — because, truthfully, you just can’t have too many books that inspire the imagination or cause you to want to pick up your own pencil, write a story or wonder what the heck was the artist thinking when they drew this. For our own part, we already have a great collection of these kinds of books, and we’ll never stop collecting and enjoying them, and you shouldn’t either.
Between 1998 and 2004 Moore had six books published either self-published or published by independent publishers or them. The ones he self published like Maginique (Magic, Imagination and Technique) tend to be the ones he personally enjoys as he gets to be the one who selects every image, and writes every word that goes into the book rather than allow a publisher to do it all. Moore states that, as an artist, It can be quite frustrating, when you spend countless hours on the artwork to create a great book, only to find the layout, typography, image selection and even cover artwork that is not printed the way it best represents your efforts. Needless to say, by self publishing Mischief, it allows him to select each and every image as well as to totally oversee the entirety of the content, making absolutely certain the quality control on the print quality is totally ‘up to snuff’.
Supporters of the book are in for a real treat with a number of very cool “Add-Ons”
1. If you’re already getting a Mischief book but want some back issues of Moores other artbooks? Simply add another $20.00 to any book order and get a copy of Maidens II, Maginique or The Art of Wench mini print book! Add $60 and get all 3! international orders will need to add $30 per book to cover the extra shipping.
2. So you wanna play some Wench? The Sexiest Party/Drinking game you’ll every play comes with 52 beautifully illustrated game cards with Monte Moore Pin-ups. Ad $20 to your pledge and let me know that is what you would like included! If you’d like to see other prints and sculptures available, please visit Moore’s web site — international orders please add another $10 for shipping. (This game not currently available outside USA, so yours would be rare copy indeed!)
3. There are also still a few issues of his largest Full Color art book that was published back in 2004, entitled Majestika, which includes gaming, pin-up, comics, how-to sections, and a 22 page fully illustrated graphic novel story in the back. This is a larger book and available as both a hard and soft cover. Add $35 for soft cover and $45 for hardcover to your pledge to receive these signed editions. International orders please add another $10 for shipping.
4. The reason that the Elmore and Moore package does not include a copy of the Mischief Art Book is because Moore assumes that some Elmore fans may only want that piece and not the art book. So for $23 for domestic orders you can ad the Mischief book to your order, or $35 for international Orders.
Since Moore had quite an array of books available, he stopped publishing new works books for almost a decade...but always scanned the new work and stashed it away for when he felt that the time was right to publish a new one...and that time is now. This new collection will feature movie posters, private commissions for collectors and from conventions, gaming illustrations, luscious pin-ups, devilish demons, feisty dragons and never before published Star Wars illustrations (approved by Lucasfilm).
This new book will be at least 64 pages, but may grow in size if the project were to hit its funding goal and need stretch goals to grow the content and size. Rather than being only a black and white sketchbook, this offering will be at least half in color to capture the vibrancy of my paintings. So if you’re a fan of pirate lasses...then the chances are you will enjoy this all new collection of his artwork. It’s a great thing that today an artist like Moore can self-publish a limited edition art book with high quality reproductions and not need a faceless publisher to do it, but the drawback is that it is often solely up to us to make it happen.
This project will be funded on Sunday Sept. 8, 2013.
