Magic: The Gathering's Mirrodin Besieged Path of Blight Intro Pack is a deck designed to introduce players to infectious Phyrexian tactics.
Unlike Scars of Mirrodin's Phyrexian Poison, this version of the infect strategy includes plenty of the spillover to white Phyrexian cards featured in Mirrodin Besieged and a plethora of combat tricks to make sure your creatures punch through the poison.
Featuring a foil Phyrexian Hydra and a rare Decimator Web to get the job done, Path of Blight has what you'll need to spread the sickness.
Mirrodin Besieged Intro Packs come ready to play right out of the box with a full 60 card deck and an additional bonus booster pack you can use to tweak your deck or trade with your friends. Now, on to the Path of Blight decklist!
2x Plague Myr
2x Phyrexian Digester
2x Rot Wolf
1x Blightwidow
2x Tine Shrike
2x Unnatural Predation
1x Pistus Strike
2x Choking Fumes
2x Banishment Decree
14 Forest
11 Plains
Path of Blight is actually a solid little Intro Pack that showcases some of the highlights that white has to offer with a Phyrexian slant. While Phyrexian Hydra and Decimator web don't compare to a Putrefax and a Hand of the Praetors, Path of Blight is much more focused on combat interactions than its green/black predecessor.
The one thing you'll be lacking with Path of Blight is the same thing most green/white decks have the hardest time assembling - a solid removal package. If you're looking to take out your opponents creatures, they're going to have to walk into Choking Fumes or face your creatures head on in combat.
This is often a less desirable approach because you have little to no way to deal with opposing utility creatures, but Path of Blight theorizes that your threats are good enough that your foe will be forced to get in your way. In some respects, they're right, as your creature pump spells and combat tricks work great with your flagship Phyrexian Hydra.
There are a few issues you probably noticed - There's absolutely no reason to play Hunters' Feast in here. Get rid of them immediately and replace them with some more infect creatures or maybe some Infiltration Lenses to snag you some cards.
Path of Blight accurately displays some of the new infectious options available to Phyrexian players in Mirrodin Besieged, but you'll need to be a fan of playing with very little removal. Overall Path of Blight is a nice addition to the Intro Pack lineup and a good way to get a Decimator Web for that kitchen-table deck.
