Exciting developments regarding Magic: The Gathering's Mirrodin Besieged have been announced. At the Mirrodin Besieged prerelease event, players will be able to select Mirrodin Besieged packs aligned with either Mirran or Phyrexian factions.
Yes, that's right. What we're seeing here in the Scars of Mirrodin block with Mirrodin Besieged are faction-aligned packs, you'll be given three of the packs of your choosing and will crack them with three regular Scars of Mirrodin packs to build your sealed deck.
If that wasn't enough spice to add a little heat to your Magic: The Gathering sandwich, there will also be two different prerelease promo cards to select from - one for each faction.
The results of dual faction events such as the Mirrodin Besieged prerelease may even have real impact down the line as we explore the unnamed mysterious third set in the Scars of Mirrodin block. Will your choices of faction alignment change some (or all!) of the cards in the third set? It's a fairly interesting block gimmick, and adds a lot of flavor to all three sets.
We've got some doubts about selecting Phyrexian as 80% of the original Scars of Mirrodin is Mirran goodies, but there are sure to be some interesting and interactive possibilities popping up as we move closer to spoiler season.
The Mirrodin Besieged prerelease is still quite a ways off, next year on January 29-30 - but you'll be able to take sides with faction packs!
