Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton will open Feb. 5 Super Bowl with patriotic duet

This year's Super Bowl watchers will be treated to a duet version of "America the Beautiful" on Feb. 5 from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis when country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton mark their first TV performance since their headline-grabbing nuptials last May.

News of the Super Bowl XLVI performance was made via a Jan. 31 report from the couple's respective PR camps. The couple will open the world-famous sporting event slated to officially begin at 6:25 p.m. (EST) on NBC with their patriotic number, which is also available via iTunes beginning today at http://www.smarturl.it/thebeautiful.

Blake, who recently lost his beloved father, is currently a three-time Grammy nominee and slated to co-host this year's 47th Annual ACM Awards live from Vegas on April 1. The Oklahoma- born and based artist also will soon return to the set of the hit-TV show "The Voice," which will make its season No. 2 premiere at 10 p.m. (ET) on NBC following the 2012 Super Bowl.

For those who've yet to tune in to "The Voice," Shelton is currently one of the musician coaches on the talent search-formatted show, along with music stars Christian Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine.

As for the solo side of his success, the "sexy" singer recently celebrated a three-week No. 1 song with “God Gave Me You,” which is contained on his Red River Blue album. The single marks Shelton’s fifth consecutive No. 1. The Red River Blue debuted at No. 1 on the Soundscan Top Current Albums chart and Soundscan Top Country Albums chart and also features Shelton’s infectious multi-week No.1 titled “Honey Bee," a song that became his first-ever digital platinum single. To date, Shelton has 10 No. 1 songs and hasn't had a single peak outside the top 10 since 2007.

Meanwhile, multi-platinum-selling and reigning two-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, the cotton-lovin' Ms. Lambert, continues to her dominance in the country world via her On Fire Tour and the recent gold certifcation of her Four The Record CD.

Her current single is the powerful, “Over You,” written by the artist and hubby Shelton, who happens to be the reigning CMA Male Vocalist of the Year for the second consecutive year . The track is, of course, contained on her new Four The Record album, which made history when it debuted atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, making Lambert the first country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of her first four albums debut at No. 1.
