Los Angeles, Calif. - On Friday, a second teacher from Miramonte Elementary School was arrested – accused of inappropriately touching two girls in his classroom. The case has reportedly left those at the school and in the school district in shock and disbelief.
The arrest of Martin B. Springer, 49, a second grade teacher, comes just days after Mark Berndt, 61, who worked at the school for more than three decades, was charged with committing lewd acts on 23 children.

According to the Los Angeles Times, both Springer and Berndt know one another. The report indicates that school newsletters show the two teachers had taken their classes on at least two joint field trips in the past 10 years.
Springer allegedly victimized 7 and 8 year old children over the past three years and remains behind bars on $2 million bail.
Berndt is accused of committing lewd acts between 2005 and 2010 on students who range in age from 6 to 10. He is being held on $23 million bail and could face life in prison if convicted of the charges.
In addition, attorney Raymond Baoucher has filed suit against the school district, alleging that Berndt fed an unidentified girl a sugar cookie laced with his semen. According to the lawsuit, the girl claims the district did not take reasonable action to protect students after officials received complaints about the teacher.
Berndt was investigated in 1993 after a young girl alleged he attempted to fondle her. At that time, prosecutors said they did not have enough evidence to file charges against him.
