Los Angeles, Calif. - Martin Springer, the second man arrested in the Miramonte Elementary School sex scandal, has been released on $300,000 bail.
The second grade teacher was arrested last week after two students claimed he fondled them in his classroom in 2009.
Springer, 49, must wear an ankle monitor while out on release.
In addition, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced Springer must continually wear his tracking device; stay at least 100 yards from his victims and any witnesses in the case; must stay 250 feet from parks, playgrounds and schools or any other area where children congregate; and cannot be in the company of a child unless a responsible adult is present.
Springer has pleaded not guilty to the charges he faces.
KABC 7 reports that on Feb. 7, the school board decided it would fire Springer.
The teacher was arrested only days after another instructor at the school, Mark Berndt, 61, was charged with committing 23 lewd acts on children who range in age from 6 to 10, from 2005 to 2010.
Berndt – a third grade teacher who worked at Miramonte for more than three decades – has been fired by the Los Angeles Unified School District, who challenged the termination and received a settlement of $40,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The investigation into Berndt began after a film processor at CVS turned around 600 images over to authorities of blindfolded children with cockroaches on their face and spoonfuls of semen in front of their mouths.
This week, the entire school staff at Miramonte was replaced, but only 68 percent of students showed up Thursday, according to KABC.
