Sunday morning in Toronto, a young woman had stomach cramps and lived close to the hospital so she started to walk to the hospital. She was pregnant and did not make it to the hospital in time for the baby to be born, so the baby was born outside in the cold weather. She called for help and an ambulance came to pick herself and the baby up. The baby soon after was pronounced dead. Two police officers were assigned to watch the baby while waiting for the coroner to arrive. Approximately an hour and a half later, one of the police officers noticed the sheet covering the baby move. They realized the baby was alive and called for help.
The cold weather can shut your body down if you are out in it too long. It is just like a sudden shock from being in ice cold water. Your body shuts down and you may stop breathing. This baby was lucky to survive and everybody is glad that the baby is okay now.
