The Wild built a two-goal lead in the third period, but a pair of Canadiens three minutes and one second apart evened the score.
The Canadiens (8-6-0) controlled play for most of the second and third periods and were able to tie the game, but were unable to hold off the Wild after Mike Yeo called a time out in the third period.
With five minutes and 28 seconds remaining in the game, Jason Pominville continued his hot streak with his second goal of the game and eighth in nine games for the winner.
"Pucks are finding me and I'm finding ways to put them in," Pominville said. "I think it's finally getting rewarded for all the work we put in. I think as a line, we through a little bit of rough stretch to generate much in the goal column. Now we are starting to chip in that way."
Pominville circled the net and had Keith Ballard's shot from the point glance off Zach Parise's stick right to him at the right side of an open net.
Pominville's hot streak began shortly after Yeo moved him onto a line with Mikael Granlund.
"(Granlund) sees the ice really well," Pominville said. "I think we are both guys that like to make plays. I'm a guy that likes to shoot. We seem to find each other in a lot of situations.
His overall game fits my overall game pretty well."
Granlund is on quite the streak himself with 10 assists in 13 games. Now in his second year, the Finnish center is playing a much different game than he played last season.
"I feel much more comfortable than last season," he said. "It was a tough one."
