Minnesota Wild begin four-game road trip begins with a disappointment effort

The Minnesota Wild started a very tough and very important four-game road trip well. The Wild controlled play and had an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. However, T.J. Oshie scored the first of his three goals to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 5-1 victory Thursday at the Scottrade Center.

The wheels completely fell off from there. Turnovers, standing around and complacency have plagued the Wild for several games, but have really come out in the last two.

The game took its most dramatic turn late in first period when Dany Heatley (twice) and Jared Spurgeon turned the puck during a four-minute power play in the final minute. Oshie intercepted Spurgeon’s pass at center ice and made easy work of the breakaway goal beating Darcy Kuemper between the legs.

The Blues (50-16-11) got goals from Jaden Schwartz and Brenden Morrow - both on the power play - to put the game away before the Wild even got close to getting back into the game.

The Wild (37-26-11) avoided the shutout 11 minutes and 11 seconds into the third period when Zach Parise fired a shot into an open net. Charlie Coyle fed a cross ice pass to Parise at the top of the circles.

The Wild return to action Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes at Arena.
