The Minnesota Wild have few roster spots with the emergence of their young stars. However, a few players still need to supplement the roster. The Wild enter the offseason with 14 unrestricted free agents and eight restricted free agents.
Here is restricted free agent Nino Niederreiter.
2013-14 Statistics: 81 games played, 14 goals, 22 assists, 36 points, plus-12 rating, 44 penalty minutes, 2 power play goals, 1 game-winning goal, 143 shots on goal (regular season); 13 games played, 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points, 8 penalty minutes, 2 game-winning goals, 22 shots on goal (playoffs)
Qualifying Offer: $850,500
Outlook: Niederreiter is going to be back with the Wild for the 2014-15 season. The only mystery surrounding the Swiss Olympian is what contract he will get.
Will it be a one-year deal to continue his restricted free agent ladder or will the two sides agree on a long-term deal to buy out some of the team-controlled years. Both Niederreiter and General Manager Chuck Fletcher did not seem too concerned about his future. Both seemed excited for what the 21-year-old can do in his second season in Minnesota.
Niederreiter emerged, especially during the playoffs, as a goal-scoring, power forward. He has good speed, hands and a physical presence.
