The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that the team has signed wide receiver Lestar Jean.
He has 10 career receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown in 27 career NFL games for the Houston Texans.
The 26-year-old fourth-year veteran was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Texans in 2011. He showed promise and was drawing rave reviews in the preseason. However, a preseason shoulder injury landed him on injured reserve for the entire season.
He played the last two seasons for the Texans, but never fulfilled the potential he showed in the preseason.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 202-pound former Florida Atlantic star has the quickness off the line of scrimmage and size to be a downfield big play threat. For some reason, it hasn’t all come together in regular season games yet for him.
Right now, he probably fits onto the Vikings depth chart as the fourth or fifth option on the outside.
