According to reports, the Minnesota Vikings added veteran safety Kurt Coleman Monday. The 25-year-old started 27 games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and 2012 before becoming a reserve last season.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 200-pound safety recorded a career-low 14 tackles last season. He also went without an interception nor pass defensed in 2013.

Prior to 2013, he recorded 207 tackles, 11 passes defensed, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles in 44 games over three seasons.

His role with the Vikings is likely to be as a special teams player as well as a top reserve at both safety spots. He also will likely have the opportunity to challenge Andrew Sendejo and Jamarca Sanford to start opposite Harrison Smith.
