2013 Statistics: 14 games, 283 rushing yards, 7.9 yards per carry, 2 touchdowns, 88 receiving yards, 1 fumble, 1 fumble lost.

Career Statistics: 61 games, 1,305 rushing yards, 4.7 yards per carry, 5 rushing touchdowns, 600 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns, 7 fumbles, 6 fumbles lost.

Outlook: Gerhart was one of the most under-utilized players on the Vikings roster. It is hard to blame the Vikings for not using Gerhart as much they probably should have with Adrian Peterson also on the roster.

Gerhart received the opportunity to be the lead back twice due to significant injuries to Peterson. Both, however, were short-lived.

One week after Peterson tore the ACL and MCL in his knee against the Washington Redskins in December of 2011. The following week, in the final game of the season against the Chicago Bears, Gerhart suffered a torn MCL. He did not require surgery and was back for OTAs.

Last season, he had the best opportunity of his career to showcase himself for this offseason when Peterson suffered an ankle injury against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. That opportunity went by the wayside before the conclusion of the game. Gerhart suffered a hamstring injury and did not play the rest of the season.

Gerhart is a downhill runner that compliments Peterson very well. Peterson looks for the big play, while Gerhart sees the hole and hits it.

Gerhart has proven to have the talent to be a lead back, but hasn’t proven capable of doing it yet. There are teams that would give him the featured work load, but may not be willing to pay him as such.

The Vikings will probably make him an offer, but will he pass up the opportunity to push for a starting job to stay in Minnesota.
