Outlook: The Minnesota Vikings haven’t even gotten a full season out of Josh Freeman. Yet, his time in purple may have been too long.

After getting released from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following Week 4, the Vikings quickly signed him. The hope was that he would figure things out and become the Vikings quarterback of the future.

He has had some very good games for the Buccaneers, but the relationship between him and then-Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano became strained early this season.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman took a chance on the former first round draft pick. However, Freeman made only one disastrous start for the Vikings.

His skill set may be okay for the way new offensive coordinator Norv Turner likes to run the offense, but does the front office, new coaching staff and the players have enough confidence in him to re-sign this offseason.

Probably not.

Don’t expect to see Freeman in a Vikings jersey again. It would be shocking to see him re-sign or even be offered a contract extension.
