Outlook: Berger has been with the Vikings for three seasons and he has been a very valuable piece of the roster. He has played all but three games and started only nine, but the Vikings have not had a lot of depth along the offensive line.
Berger has served as the lone reserve interior offensive lineman almost every game he has not started.
He is an underdog story coming from Division-II Michigan Tech - a university that was ready to drop its football program in 2003 while Berger was there.
He was a sixth round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers, but never played for them. He spent the first six seasons in the NFL bouncing on and off the active roster for the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys. In 2010, he got the opportunity to start 14 games and turned it into an opportunity with the Vikings.
The Vikings still lack depth along the offensive line and Berger’s versatility gives them options every Sunday.
