The Minnesota Vikings enjoyed a surprising 2012 season. The team enters the offseason with higher expectations and some decisions to make.
The decisions begin with its own free agents.
Here is wide receiver Jerome Simpson.
Number: 81
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190
College: Coastal Carolina
Experience: 5 years
2012 Stats: 12 games played (10 starts) – 26 receptions – 274 receiving yards.
Career Stats: 97 receptions - 1,278 receiving yards - 7 touchdowns - 1 carry - 2 rushing yards.
2013 Outlook: The Vikings signed Simpson with the hope that he would invigorate its downfield passing attack, despite an expected suspension. However, the athleticism he displayed with the Cincinnati Bengals was present, but the ability to catch the ball and get open were not. His best game was his first of the season. He tied or set season-highs for catches (four) and yards (50) in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. Other than that, he did not top four catches or 39 yards. Injuries and inconsistency lead me to believe he will not be back next season.
