Minnesota Vikings 2012 free agents; WR Camarillo

The Minnesota Vikings are entering the 2012 offseason with a lot of question marks.

The Vikings can rebuild by signing its own free agents, outside free agents and with its expected 10 draft picks.

The first part of the process is signing its own free agents.

Here is wide receiver Greg Camarillo.

Number: 85

Height: 6-2

Weight: 200

College: Stanford University

Experience: 6 years

College Highlights: He finished his collegiate career with 46 catches for 613 yards – named Jim Reynolds Award winner as the Cardinal player with the best display of courage on the field and devotion to the game – was a three-time Academic All-Pac 10 honoree.

Transactions: 5/13/2005 – signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers; 9/04/2005 – signed to the Chargers practice squad; 9/03/2007 – claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins; 8/25/2010 – traded from the Dolphins to the Vikings.

Pros: He is the quintessential possession receiver – works the underneath routes really well; finding holes in the zone and securing the catch before contact – not afraid of contact.

Cons: He is not a downfield threat – does not possess ideal speed or quickness in and out of cuts to separate from defensive backs.

2012 Outlook:The Vikings acquired the veteran receiver to provide its young quarterback (Tarvaris Jackson at the time) with a reliable pass catcher. He is a reliable fourth receiver type of guy. The Vikings are rebuilding and have younger receivers that will fill the back end of the receiving corps. I don’t think the Vikings will re-sign him and nor should they.
