Minnesota Twins rank #7 on list of Major League Baseball local ratings

While the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers might be headed to the World Series, their teams did not grab the top local TV ratings in 2011.

In a list just released by Nielsen Media Research, The Philadelphia Phillies topped a list of the household ratings garnered by each MLB team in their local media market. This season nearly 10% of Philadelphia households tuned in during the regular season. That number more than doubled to 21.6% during the playoffs.

"The Phillies’ high-profile acquisition of pitching ace Cliff Lee last winter built incredible team buzz and the fans definitely tuned in," said Stephen Master, VP of Sports, Nielsen.

The Minnesota Twins tied for seventh-place on the list with the Cleveland Indians. Each team managed a local household rating of 6. The Indians number was an increase of 105% over last year.

The Milwaukee Brewers also saw a substantial rise in ratings this season, jumping to third on the list with a 63 percent increase in local ratings over last year.
