It seems that those two stats are the reason this team finds itself in third place percentage points behind the Chicago White Sox, and 1.5 games behind the division leading Detroit Tigers.

This was a move the Minnesota Twins had to make, not only is Joe Mauer one of the best players on the Twins roster, he is a home town kid they need to help fill their brand new ball park. Finally the Twins have given up their small market mentality, and made a strong move to insure the success of their team in future seasons.

2010 MLB season preview: Minnesota Twins

It’s kind of hard to imagine that just a few seasons ago the Twins were a candidate for contraction. Now in 2010 they open a new ball park. Of course giving up the confines of the Homer Dome is one of the big questions facing this team, which will feel like they are in limbo until they can get catcher Joe Mauer’s autograph on a big phat contract extension. They have Mauer for this year, and they might have to make a serious run at a title to keep him. Other random thoughts abut the Twins include the size of their payroll, small market budget my foot.

2009 MLB season in review: Minnesota Twins

The final year of the Minnesota Twins in the Metrodome, in 2010 they will move to an outdoor facility named, Target Field. Some call the Metrodome the baseball park that refused to die, after 162 regular season games the Metrodome was the host of a one game playoff between the Twins and the Detroit Tigers. For those that saw that game it was one of the best baseball games of the year and took nearly 14 innings to complete. While the Metrodome would not give up to the end of the season, nor the one game playoff, it eventually was put out to pasture by the power of the New York Yankees.
