Minnesota Twins' Joe Mauer expecting twins with wife Maddie

Minnesota Twins fans rejoice: St. Paul native Joe Mauer is expecting twins with his wife Maddie. The news broke Wednesday, Feb. 27 via Twitter thanks to Dustin Morse of the Twins communication team. It seems it took merely minutes for the twins jokes to begin to spread via social media.

Maddie and Joe Mauer married this past Dec. 12, and now they are expecting not one, but two bundles of joy. WCCO notes that Joe and Maddie wed at the University of St. Thomas chapel and the reception was held at The Depot. The two have known one another since their Cretin-Derham Hall days. There is no word yet on a due date for the Mauer twins, but given their wedding date, chances seem solid that this Twins pregnancy is still in fairly early stages.

Joe Mauer signed another big contract with the Minnesota Twins in 2010 that keeps him a hometown boy for eight years, to the tune of $184 million. Mauer is already one of the Minnesota Twins' most beloved players, and news that Maddie and Joe Mauer are expecting twins will very likely propel him to even greater popularity around his hometown. Congratulations to Maddie and Joe on their big news!
