After a weekend with three points in East Lansing versus the Michigan State Spartans, Minnesota’s Justin Kloos was honored by the Big Ten with its Third Star.
The award is the second of Kloos’ career and the second of the season. The Gophers have earned weekly honors during all eight weeks of play thus far in the 2013-14 season.
Kloos leads all Big Ten rookies with seventeen points (third overall in league), with eleven assists (potting him fifth).
Kloos had an assist in Saturday’s 3-2 Gopher win over the Spartans.
As a team, the Gophers are 9-0-2 in the eleven games where Kloos notches a point. Kloos had a four game point streak at the end of October, and he has not been kept off the score sheet in consecutive games during the season.
The Gophers are off before hosting the Mariucci Classic on Jan 3-4 which includes Ferris State, RPI, and Colgate as well. The tournament kicks off Jan 3rd when Ferris State plays RPI and Minnesota takes on Colgate. Saturday’s matchups will be influenced by Friday’s results.
