The Minnesota Golden Gophers have no problems at tight end.

Redshirt sophomore Maxx Williams has emerged as a matchup nightmare in the passing game and redshirt freshman Nate Wozniak has the size to present problems for defenses.

Senior Drew Goodger, junior Lincoln Plsek and redshirt junior Ernie Heifort are very good blockers. Goodger and Plsek can also help in the passing game.

Despite having depth at tight end, Jerry Kill and his staff have gotten commitments from two true tight ends and an athlete that some recruiting services list as a tight end.

Gaelin Elmore from Somerset High School in Somerset, Wisc. has been one of the most solid Gopher commits of the class. He is a three-star recruit from both Rivals and ESPN. According to Rivals, he received offers to seven other schools, including Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

The next tight end to commit to Minnesota was Brandon Lingen from Wayzata High School in Plymouth, Minn. He received a three-star rating from both Rivals and ESPN. According to Rivals, he received offers from Air Force and Florida Atlantic, along with Minnesota.

Jerry Gibson, from Theodore High School in Theodore, Ala., was the latest tight end to commit to Minnesota. He is rated as a three-star tight end by ESPN and a two-star athlete by Rivals.

The Gophers currently have no offers out to tight end recruits that have not committed. In total, they offered 10 recruits listed as a tight end in Rivals’ database. Eight of their 10 offers were accepted by other schools, including one to Michigan.
