High School: Mt. Carmel

Hometown: Chicago, Ill.

Position: Defensive Tackle

Height: 6-0

Weight: 285

My Assessment: He is a disruptive rusher that makes a lot of plays in the backfield. He is extremely quick and powerful off the snap. He can anchor a defensive line from the middle. He played in a 3-4 base scheme, but has the skill set to play in any base defensive scheme.

Overview: Ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals, 247Sports and Scout, while ESPN gave him two stars - Rivals lists him as the N0. 37 player in Illinois, while 247Sports has him at No. 46 and ESPN has him at No. 57 - Scout ranks him as the No. 63 defensive tackle in the nation, while 247Sports has him at No. 89.

ESPN Analysis: Compact and thickly-built interior play - displays good playing strength, especially in his lower body - good first step quickness and explosiveness - stout presence that can be tough to move off the ball - uses his stature to his advantage to fire out low and gain leverage and uncoil at contact and anchor - brings his hands and flashes enough raw strength to fight free at times - can generate some push into the pocket with a bull rush with his ability to get under a blocker’s pads - active and physical player who will battle in the trenches - will pursue to the ball with proper angles - tough to move as an interior defensive lineman and can clog things up and help defend the run.

High School: Attends Mount Carmel High School in Chicago - won back-to-back state titles, starting with the Class 8A championship in 2012 - the Caravan posted a 13-1 record en route to the 2013 Class 7A state title - tallied two sacks during the championship game, and helped Mount Carmel’s defense hold its opponent to 71 yards of offense - anchored a defense that notched six shutouts and allowed more than 10 points in only four games - made 64 tackles as a senior, which included 34 tackles-for-loss and 17 sacks - forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble.
