High School: Murphy
Hometown: Mobile, Ala.
Position: Defensive Tackle
My Assessment: Limited viewing, so his analysis is really incomplete. But in what I saw, he is a strong, quick penetrating interior defensive linemen. He can make plays in the backfield. He is a sleeper recruit that could easily be an All-Big Ten performer.
Overview: ESPN and 247Sports rank him as a three-star prospect, while Rivals gave him two stars - ESPN lists him as the 45th best player in Alabama and as the 102nd defensive tackle in the nation - 247Sports tabs him as the No. 58 recruit in Alabama and as the 107th defensive tackle.
ESPN Analysis: Wins the one-on-one battles with his superior size - flashes the playing strength to hold the point of attack - shows the ability to flatten down the line in pursuit of the football - flashes a quick first step along with the upper body playing strength to collapse the pocket with a straight on power move - ability to contain and pressure the quarterback with a closing burst - moves through traffic efficiently, showing the desire to chase down the football - strong wrap tackler who doesn’t allow leaky yards after contact.
