The Minnesota Golden Gophers heads on the road for the first time in the 2014 season in Week 3 against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs.

2013 Record: 4-8 (2-7 Big 12)

2013 Offensive Statistics: 25.1 points scored per game, 344.8 total offensive yards per game, 118.6 rushing yards per game, 226.2 passing yards per game, 28 turnovers forced, 24 sacks allowed

2013 Defensive Statistics: 25.2 points allowed per game, 356.4 total offensive yards allowed per game, 130.8 rushing yards allowed per game, 225.6 passing yards allowed per game, 30 turnovers, 32 sacks

Head Coach: Gary Patterson (120-44 record in 13 seasons as a head coach, all at TCU)

Key Returning Offensive Players: QB Trevone Boykin, WR Brandon Carter, RB B.J. Catalon, WR Josh Doctson, WR David Porter

Key Returning Defensive Players: LB Jonathan Anderson, S Sam Carter, LB Paul Dawson, S Chris Hackett, DT Terrell Lathan, LB Marcus Mallet, CB Kevin White

Outlook: The Horned Frogs had a disappointing record in 2013, but lost by more than 10 points just twice. A play or two the other way and they could have been 10-2. While the season could have gone completely different, reality is they were a four-win team.

The Horned Frogs are an experienced team, especially on defense, with good coaching. They have a lot of players returning that were among the team leaders in nearly all statistical categories. This is a winnable, but dangerous game, for the Gophers in 2014.
