Minnesota Golden Gopher football recruiting report; LB De'Niro Laster

Minnesota Golden Gopher head coach Jerry Kill wants guys with the right the character, attitude and passion. He also wants good football players that fit his system.

The Minnesota Golden Gopher football team signed 19 players on National Signing Day that the coaching staff hopes will fit those traits over their remaining eligibility.

Here is one of those recruits; linebacker De'Niro Laster.

High School: Cleveland Heights (Ohio)

Hometown: Shaker Heights, Ohio

Height: 6-4

Weight: 230

My analysis: Limited viewing - effective edge rusher - relentless in pursuit - non-stop motor - reads and adjusts well to the play - good athleticism - good hands.

ESPN's analysis: Does a good job playing outside run and maintaining leverage - can separate and stretch out the run to the sideline or slip the block inside as well with quick hand escapes - mirrors ball carriers well in space and breaks down soundly with good body control - effective blitzed with his first-step quickness and bend off the edge - displays sound coverage awareness and instincts as a pass defender.

GopherSports.com Overview: Earned a three-star ranking from Rivals.com and Scout.com - Ranked as the No. 137 athlete in the nation and the No. 67 overall prospect in Ohio by ESPN - Listed as the No. 35 outside linebacker in the nation this year and the No. 34 overall prospect in the state of Ohio by Rivals.com - Ranked as the No. 63 overall prospect in Ohio by 247Sports.com - Ranked as the No. 146 wide receiver in the nation by Scout.com. - Helped lead team to an 8-2 overall record as a senior and a 5-2 mark in division play - Had 70 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles in 2012 - Also played wide receiver as a prep athlete - Coached by Jeff Rotsky.
