Minnesota Golden Gopher head coach Jerry Kill wants guys with the right the character, attitude and passion. He also wants good football players that fit his system.
The Minnesota Golden Gopher football team signed 19 players on National Signing Day that the coaching staff hopes will fit those traits over their remaining eligibility.
Here is one of those recruits; defensive lineman Demaris Peppers.
High School: Fairley (Tenn.)
Hometown: Memphis, Tenn.
Height: 6-3
Weight: 270
My analysis: Limited viewing - good quickness off the ball - gets a strong push up the middle - uses his hands to get off blocks.
ESPN's analysis: Will play from a two and three-point stance, but is more explosive with his hand down - does a good job of firing out low and being able to consistently get pad-under-pad and play with leverage - flashes the ability to be active with his hands - as a pass rusher he can get to half-a-man and get under the shoulder and power his way up-field - can be tough inside.
GopherSports.com Overview: Earned a three-star rating from ESPN, Rivals.com and 247Sports.com and a two-star rating from Scout.com - ranked as the No. 34 overall prospect in Tennessee as well as the No. 115 defensive tackle prospect in the nation by ESPN - listed as the No. 118 defensive tackle in the nation by Scout.com - rated as the No. 23 overall prospect in Tennessee by Rivals.com - Attends Fairley High School - made 57 total tackles as a senior and led Fairley with 11 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss - also caused one fumble, blocked one punt and recorded a safety as a senior - Fairley went 6-5 in 2012 including a 3-2 mark in district play - participated in the 2012 Toyota Tennessee East-West All-Star Game - coached by Rahnmann Slocum.
