The Minnesota Golden Gophers have announced their 2014-15 men’s hockey schedule in cooperation with the Big Ten Conference according to a press release issued today. The Gophers open on the road in South Bend, Indiana as one of the four teams competing in the Ice Breaker Tournament from Oct 10-12. Bemidji State will come to town Oct 24-25 before October wraps up with St. Cloud State on Oct 31-Nov 1. The latter series is a rematch of the 2014 NCAA West Regional final.
Notre Dame, Minnesota-Duluth, Boston College, and Northeastern highlight Minnesota’s November schedule, with the series against UMD being a home and home on Nov 14-15.
Michigan State and the Gophers will kick off Big Ten play December 5-6 before winter break, with the Mariucci Classic on Jan 2-3 as Minnesota hosts RIT, Merrimack, and UMass-Lowell as the players and students overall start funneling back to campus after the holidays.
The rest of the schedule will see Michigan and Wisconsin face the Gophers on recurring weekends of Jan 8-10 and Jan 15-17 respectively, with one of the dates in the Wisconsin series still to be formally decided upon and announced.
The North Star College Cup will take place on Jan 23rd-24th, 2015 with the Gophers taking on Minnesota State in one semifinal while UMD and Bemidji State play in the other. St. Cloud State is flexed from this season’s event.
